PERSONAL APPROACH

Special attention has been given to the environment, the accommodation and the training of the staff. There is no “hospital-athmosphere” but a cosy, welcoming ambiance. No ticket-drawing, no long waiting times, no crowded waiting-rooms. You are not a number to us, but the person that we care for. Your treatment is supposed to be a pleasant event, and our guarantee to you involves dedicated service and privacy. You are not ill, you have no disorder, but you need care to the best standards and under the best circumstances.

If you desire sticking around Gent a bit longer after your surgery, our secretariat will be happy to arrange for you a stay in picturesque Deurle or in the historical centre of Gent. Scenic or historical tours can also be arranged for your partner or family. Our secretariat will also assist you in arranging your travel to or back from our clinic.

This way we do everything that we can to assure you a carefree stay under our care!

SPECIFICALLY TRAINED STAFF

All the paramedic staff of E:MC² are registered nurses who are specifically trained and well-motivated to accompany you during your stay and your treatment. The same people will welcome you upon arrival, and will assist you personally before, during and after the surgery. This personal approach is experienced as very comforting and reassuring to all of our patients.

The anesthesiologists of E:MC² are all very experienced and have special interest in the anesthesia of plastic surgical interventions. During surgery the surgeon and the anesthetist are assisted by our registered OR nurses and operation assistants. Both operation theatres in E:MC² comply with the most severe criteria of safety and sterility required for our treatments. In E:MC² only Board Certified plastic surgeons operate, who all have special interest and training in the field of aesthetic plastic surgery, whether it be of the face, the breasts or the body. They are all members of the Royal Belgian Society of Plastic Surgery (www.rbsps.be) and are well-renowned specialists in Belgium and some of them also internationally.

COURSE OF A TREATMENT

Upon arrival one of our nursing staff will welcome you, and accompany you to your room. She (or he) will assist you during the whole preparation, and walk you to the operating theatre when it is ready for you. Your partner is welcome to accompany you to the doors of the operating quarters. You will receive a medical questionnaire, which you ought to fill in as completely as possible. Shortly after your arrival our anesthesiologist will run through this questionnaire with you. If you would have any questions concerning the anesthesia you have then the time to ask them. Also you plastic surgeon will visit you in your room, so you have then the opportunity to ask questions that you might be left with, or make any relevant remark. He will than make the necessary markings with a marker. These markings will be deleted in the end of the operation.

After the surgery you remain a while in the recovery room. Typically this will be about the same duration as the surgery. In the recovery room all your vital parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and breath are constantly monitored. A registered nurse is present to care for you.

Before you leave E:MC² your surgeon will come and assess whether you are fit to leave the clinic safely. Finally the nurse will give you all necessary instructions for the days to come. Should any emergency situation occur after you have left E:MC² you can at all times contact one of the physicians connected with the centre through one of the mobile phone numbers that you will receive upon departure.
